Excuse the dramatic post title, but training has not improved since last post. Between the heat and mild overuse injuries, the struggle is still very, very real.
Well hello there friends!
So much for getting back to regular posting. I’ve been super busy (and also lazy), so I haven’t posted in a bit, but I think I should have some interesting things to talk about in the near future that are more life-related than running-related, but for now…a training update.
Well it’s been a minute (a month) since I posted…oops.
Well hello there, loyal readers (hi mom!). I wanted to post this immediately after the GW Parkway Classic, but instead went home, took a shower, ate something, and took a long nap. The rest of the week then got away from me. So here I am blogging and doing laundry on a Friday night. I’m a total party animal if you couldn’t tell.
On Saturday, I ran the Sole of the City 10k through the streets of downtown Baltimore, and it was awesome! As you may have seen in my last post, I went into the race with the idea that I didn’t want to overdo this race, because I have some longer races in the next few weeks. Surprisingly, it went pretty well.
Maybe it’s because I’m a natural sprinter or because I’m hyper-competitive, but I’m terrible at pacing my training runs. I have gotten slightly better this training cycle, but apparently I still live (and die) by Steve Prefontaine’s motto “The best pace is a suicide pace, and today looks like a good day to die”.
I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a blog, specifically a running/fitness related blog, for some time. I would get all kinds of ideas in my head, and then never actually create the blog. I figured there was no way I could have enough interesting things to say and there were plenty of running blogs out there, so why would anyone read mine. Both of these things remain to be seen.
